History

In 1944 Dale E. Percy purchased a large tractor is $1200.  From this machinery, one of Stowe's first usable bucket loaders was born and Dale started taking on small excavation projects.  Taking a break in 1946 to serve in the US Airforce, he learned more about hydraulics and machinery.  Returning in 1947, Dale began doing excavation for hire and demand grew more each year.  During the late 1950's Dale worked on site for various upcoming developments, commercial buildings, hotels and roads.

In 1959 Dale established his home office and garage in the current location of 269 Weeks Hill Road.

By 1970 Dale had between 12 and 15 employees

In 1974, Dale's nephew, Chip Percy, came to work driving a dump truck

In 1980, Dale became incorporated with Chip Percy as the Vice President and later becoming owner, making Dale E. Percy a second-generation family-owned and operated company!

In 2002, Chip purchased a gravel pit in Lowell, VT making this the 4th gravel pit owned in the company's history

Today, Chip is joined by a workforce of over 60 employees

        - 4 supervisors

        - 3 office staff

        - 3 mechanics

        - 8 dump truck drivers

        - numerous operators and laborers

        - crushing and screening plants

Over the history of the company, Percy's has been able to take on various projects from sewer systems and foundations, to commercial buildings, roadways, hotels, sidewalks, developments, water projects, municipal projects, and most recently retail sales of piping and gravel material.  None of this could have been accomplished without the help and dedication of our employees!
